Dr. Mariya Gyorev obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Before moving to the US, Dr. Gyorev studied Clinical Psychology – Psychoanalytical Perspective in Bulgaria, where she grew up. In addition to her extensive educational training, Dr. Gyorev completed multiple and diverse certification programs in the US and Europe, master's and doctoral level practicums, an APA-accredited doctoral internship, and a postdoctoral residency. She has worked with a diverse range of problems and individuals.

Dr. Mariya Gyorev sees adult individuals, couples, and groups. She specializes in complex trauma and PTSD and their impact on our mind and body, including attachment difficulties - anxiety around relationships or trouble trusting others, inability to self-regulate and healthily express emotions, somatic concerns, dissociations, low self-worth, feelings of shame, fear, guilt, etc, and lack of cohesive sense of self.

Dr. Gyorev also works with a range of other problems, including depression, anxiety, immigration stress, attachment issues, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, breakups, unhealthy habits, and the inability to process and healthily express painful emotions. As an immigrant and former international student, she is passionate about working with individuals on immigrant and non-immigrant visas. She was one of the head representatives of the Let's Talk for International Students program.

Dr. Gyorev uses an integrative approach and tailors it based on her client's unique needs. Through evidence-based therapies such as CBT, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Attachment Theories. She tailors her approach to meet the unique needs of each client. She believes healing begins when we attend to and work through our painful emotional experiences in a safe and empathic environment. Dr. Gyorev strives to promote emotional awareness by helping the client develop the ability to listen to, process, and regulate emotions. Additionally, her philosophy views the individual as an integration of mind and body, and she draws interventions from multiple perspectives to promote healing at a root-caused level, insight, meaning, hope, direction, and further growth.

In her free time, Dr. Gyorev enjoys being in nature, doing yoga, traveling, and creating ways to make therapy accessible to more people.
